Minutes of the Commitee Meeting 2005 January 9

Present

:Apologies: Everyone else
In Durban (no need to apologise)
Graham P
:In UK: Ian K
In Thailand?
Hendri C

** NB Ian and Tai, we gave you stuff to do ;) **

Committee business

It was noted, motioned, passed, confirmed and will in due course be defenestrated that John M will be Scrivener in 2005, since d@vid will be in Tokai, which is not the middle of nowhere, for most of the year.

See the end of the minutes for a painful demonstration of how to spell CLAWs?, Dragonfire and other fun words.

! A Memo That Is Not About How Cool My Phone Is

Please note the following spellings, including capitalisation (or not) and spaces (or not)...

* CLAWs (small s, it's not an acronym)

* Dragonfire (no space)

* CLAWthing, CLAWmember, CLAWmarks, CLAWroom... (no space, capital CLAW)

* CLAWs Noticeboard, CLAWs party... (if not a prefix, it has an s)

CLAWs' or CLAWs's dependent on whether you write Achilles' or Achilles's (as opposed to Jones's, which is always Jones's), should it ever come to that.

The exception: ClawWiki? (coz that's a traditional WikiWord?)

SPON is always written in all caps, particular in the word SPONsor?.

Someone, and I mention no Guildmistresses, wrote HAM SANDWHICHS at the bottom of the minutes. Simply too many capitals for my liking, and it's spelt PIG.

I downloaded the programming software the other day - apparently if you flip a bit it has dictaphone capabilities too

TheMinutesThatTimeForgot

nnnnnrgh, late, undated, sans absentees as well as those present,
buried in peat for nine months, these are...

The Minutes That Time Forgot

(tai didn't forget them, but he did forget to email me the warhammer
results again)

minor minutes policy issues: apart from being on time in future :P

  • PUBLIC MINUTES: when the wiki is (eventually) up, shall I post minutes publically? keep the populace informed and so on (easy enough to designate some issues as non-public should the need arise)
  • CLAWprefix?: on a related tangent, in public fora (email, notices, online posts), please FOR THE LOVE OF CTHULHU, use the CLAWprefix? correctly:

Dragonfire

Theme: Carnival (see recent post regarding expanded meanings)

Date: Not set - not a long weekend (*)

Contributions: Have been solicited by the CLAWthing (specifically,
Cthulhu, GURPS, probably D&D, other options open)

Contributions so far...

All Flesh Must Be Eaten: Alex & Michelle; Historical reenactment zombies

Sorcerer: d@vid; it's Sorcerer, goddammit
Munchkin: Reuel - the Friday before the weekend

Timetabling

The weekend before or after August 9 (*)

LARPs/Munchkin on Friday evening
Anything on Tuesday (August 9)? Not decided (*)

Committee

The Hoarder of Monies has entered the contents of the previous Purse String Holder's pulp-based accounting system into a "finance" "program". Everyone v impressed. Sam will kill us if we try anything.

New email addresses taken for CLAWsecure? mailing list.

End of year party

Hoarder presented with his first chance to say no. He didn't. The fool!

We will be paying for Sophie's Ghost and the sound system. (R100 /
band member + ?? for sound) (*)

Date: (?) was this decided (*)

Venue: The One Ring

Warhammer

David Sharpe won the SA national WH40K? competition. (Announced at SchpatCON?)

Scrivener still waiting for details to post to cthulist (*)

CLAWroom

Subcommitttee: Mike is head of CLAWroom? subcommittee; also helping are Ian, Hendri and Jonathan

  • Edwina Goliath waiting for formal replies from subcommittees before forwarding to us.
  • Brendan and Ian to draw up a list of locations already tried. (In response to suggestion that we should simply search for another location, which we already did, two years ago.) (*)
  • Methodology of the CLAWshack?: a slab of concrete is laid, then the wendyhouse is built on top, ie. a v permanent structure

Is it neccessary to approach CPS in regards to the saga? (*)

Brendan noted that it's "fucked up" when the committee table is larger
than the CLAWs table.

Society lockers

Are they accessible after hours/on weekends? (*)

Library

  • Lockers are still in chapel? (Check) (*)
  • What is in the library? (In the chapel) (Check) (*)

roleplaying.co.za

Needs love. The Guildmistress forgot his password (but has since logged in, I saw him do it). Love requested by CLAWthing in recent cthulist post. (For rpcoza, not the CLAWthing. CLAWthing must make separate request for love, submit in triplicate and bury in peat for nine months.)

Orientation

Mike and Michelle in charge of CLAWs Orientation 2005?. (Ian away until first week of Feb)

Gazebo: Sean to investigate gazebo-making, d@vid to investigate
gazebo-pricing (*)

Comment: Just to clear that up... (by MoonFlake? on 2004-11-02 08:58:32)

The AFMBE module is being written by myself and ALASTAIR. I'm pretty sure I pointed that out. I'm pretty sure it was in writing in the module submission. Yes, in fact, it is in the first line.
