Thursday Night Movie Plans -- Next Date: 21th October

In case you haven't realised it yet, the point of these evenings for me is to meet more of you lot. With that in mind, I am running a weekly Movie evening at my house. I have a big screen TV and loads of DVDs and videos (the full list is at: ]] ). I am also going to change a thing or two. The CLAW "5 second rule" for seating is voided during Movie Evening (unless the week is designated as a Thursday Night Movie Theater 3000 week, and then there is no booking and the CLAW "5 second rule" IS in effect). The people who vote early get the good seats... as incentive to vote early (I have one place booked on the 3 seater couch. Then there is a 2 seater couch, a single seater couch and three single comfy-ish chairs, four plastic chairs... then there is the floor)

When : Every Thursday, Next one being the 7th of October
Time : Try be at my house by 18:30, as I want to start the movies promptly at 19:00! Where: 8 Canterbury Square, Vogelgezang Street, Zonnebloem ( Directions )
What : The movie with the most votes by those present just before the movie is shown will be watched. There will be NO repeats, and the list of movies will be kept here.

Possible Movie Choices:

  • 13 going on 30 (average kid wishes she was older, and wakes up 30, starring Jennifer Garner)
  • Abandon (with Katie Holmes)
  • Barbershop 2 (Um... yeah... sometimes the porn doesn't keep the bandwidth usage up so I need to download movies like this... I am so embarrassed)
  • Battlestar Galactica (the new 2004 Miniseries, 3hrs long)
  • Beyond Borders (Angelina Jolie and Clive Owen... a love story set on the backdrop of the Ethiopian famine... has had some good reveiws)
  • Brown Sugar (with Taye Diggs and Mos Def, who is soon going to be starring in the HHGTTG movie...)
  • Bubba Ho-Tep (Silly zombie movie with Bruce Campbell... the Bela Legosi of silly zombie movies...)
  • Dawn of the Dead (Brains! Braaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnssssss!!!!)
  • Dodgeball, A true Underdog Story (Silly, silly comendy with Ben Stiller)
  • Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (It has Jim Carrey in it... other than that, I know not what it is)
  • Girl Next Door (My fantasy movie... what of the girl next door was a porn star, and you got to date her... unfortunately, no nudity... wtf???)
  • Secret Window (Johnny Depp horror... trailers looked ok)
  • Shade (looks like a cool poker/con man movie with Gabriel Byrne, Stuart Townsend, Michael Dorn and Patrick Bauchau)
  • Troy (looks like it might be theater rip, but it does go over 2 cds worth)
  • The Whole Ten Yards (Sequel to "The Whole Nine Yards"... if I was still working in a video store, I wonder how long it would be for someone to ask me where they can get hold the movie "The whole seven yards", and the other movies in the series)
  • Wonderland (with Val Kilmer... a movie about what Porn Star John Holmes did after his porn carreer)

Comments on upcoming Movie Night

  • As always, the Pizzas will be ordered from Butlers, and if not otherwise stated, will be mediums on a normal base... or you could bring one snack (Drink, chocolate, chips, pretzels, etc) to be shared
  • Vote early to book the good seats, before thay have been all snapped up... - ShadowsLight
  • I don't know how Wikis work, so I'm probably going to stuff this up, but I thought I'd pop in to say that Secret Window is worth watching, just for Johnny Depp's performance. The plot itself works better in a MST3K? setting, as you can see the ending coming a MILE away. :) But Johnny is good. And hot. But mostly good in this movie, becuase he rarely takes his shirt off. -- ShadowsBrother (from Australia).
  • Edited again to highly recommend getting a copy of "Saved!" with Mandy Moore and Macualey Culkin. Yes, I know what you're thinking, but any movie that has Mandy Moore screaming, "I'm filled with Christ's Love!" while hurling a bible into the back of another girl gets my vote. Its actually pretty good. Sadly though, not a lot of hot guys in it. -- ShadowsBrother (from Australia).
