Tekken

I would like to organize Tekken tournaments (once-off or weekly), but alas, I have no playstation...
We need at least four (4) people in order to organize a decent tournament.

The rules are simple: winner keeps the control, and we go round, and round,
and round some more.

Requirements:

  • a place
  • a time
  • a ps / ps2
  • tekken (3 / Tag / 4)
  • munchies
  • players.

Please put your name on the list if you are interested, and as soon as we have what we need, we can
let the beatings begin!

The conversation has moved to the bottom
!!For all the beginners, please check out ConsoleGamingKnowledge for Tekken basics!

Voting (we need some volunteer hosts to specify the dates)

| Player | Date | Place | Backup Place | Time

Players

| Player | Can Host | Has !PlayStation? / PS2? | Availability | GeekDotNeo | Yes | No | Always (except ThursdayNightMovies) | InfernalRabbi | No | No | | ElfBoy | No (No TV) | No | | SynKronos | Ditto | No | Weekend or Wednesday | firstfallen | Yes | Yes | Always, except perhaps early Wednesdays sometimes | ShadowsLight | Yes (Big Screen, baby) | No | | OopMan | No | No | | ToothpasteDealer | No | No |

  • the only person gonna get a beating is you, biatch :P - firstfallen
  • no, no, no - it shall be i who GIVES the beating. yeeeees. geek.neo
  • Eek, I is just a noob. I will be the one who will get ownzed. Still, best way to learn, I guess - OOPMan
  • ok, we need a date: what about next saturday (the 13th)? if you tell me what and contribute some cash, i will cooxxor. - firstfallen
  • Woah, there be slight problem with that date. InfernalRabbi's Call of the Wild campaign is set to be run on Saturday's. That could mean He and I are unavailable, although it most likely depends on the times. Somone might want to contact him and find out - OOPMan i understand that cotw will be around 3pm - 6pm, which shouldn't present any major difficulties with you guys joining us. - GeekDotNeo
  • Two Things. One (1): There is no reason why we cannot play on other days of the week. As long as we have four or more players, we're all set, and the voting shall overrule. Of course, if the hosts demand cash (ie for munchies), we can settle those details with the voting. Just add a column to the appropriate table. Two (2): For all those n00bs (everyone except me :P), all Tekken is educational. I've learned at least one thing from every player I've come up against - it's all about practice. And I'm sure everyone who knows Stuff wouldn't mind coaching a little. Anyone who gets offended easily by trash-talkers, just say so, and I for one will leave you alone. Duncs - you and I are fair game. Suck it up. - GeekDotNeo
  • Okay, so if Saturday's a go then, me needs to know two things: 1) Where is firstfallen's place? 2) Which Tekken are we playing?(So I can do some research on Game Faqs)
  • well, OopMan, email me at firstfallen@hotmail.com for directions, or ask ppl like SynKronos where i live. i'm not going to put my address on the wiki and invite all sorts of freaks into my life. i mean, i'm getting enough of you over on Saturday, right :P. also, how does an enormous pan of lasagne sound (and no-one say "squelch")? i'm thinking of letting ppl in around lunchtime, like 12/1 or so, until they leave or i get tired and kick you out. also, my place is very catty, so allergic ppl should bring drugs. ones for allergies too :P. - firstfallen
  • Adam, it's gonna be Tekken 3. I won't be there. when I finally start playing with you guys, I'm gonna get repeatedly 0Wnz0r3d, like in 2 months time
  • Oh please. There's no reason not to get owned, everyone else does :D - GeekDotNeo (The Grand Master Teacher Type)

Saturday 13th

Pre

  • I think we can safely say that the first official tournament will be held at firstfallen's. as below, mail firstfallen@hotmail.com for directions if you need them.
  • GeekDotNeo is bringing two bags of chips, and 2 litres of lemon twist. firstfallen: you need to tell us what else you need (cash for lasagne or whatever). GeekDotNeo likes squelch.
  • InfernalRabbi will bring chips 'n' Coke, but will have not the squelch. Will come at 1:00-ish, then leave to RolePlay?, then, perhaps, come, back, damn, I, think, I, should, stop, putting, commas, all, over, the, place.,
  • Squelch sounds good. Let us know re: costs -- SynKronos
  • kewl. squelch it is. does R20 per person soud like too much? i dunno, i don't usually charge for cooxxoring. i will just make a huuuge pan, and we'll see. a couple of rules: no showing up before 1pm, no shaving the cats, and no molesting of the pandas :) -- firstfallen

Post

  • Seriously, if I'd read your instructions I wouldn't have molested the Panda! Well, maybe I would have done it less... "Cerebral Palsy is no excuse!". also, the squelch was more like gloop, but still very, very tasty. We needed more people to be there at the same time (organizational error I suppose), but it was still (for me) a lot of fun. Thanks to firstfallen and her panda, and everyone who made it! - GeekDotNeo
  • Yeah, was cool. Adam, I think you need to spend less time on the controller tho. Personally I don't mind, since I learned a lot, but other people are less keen then I am on getting a beating every 5 minutes. Perhaps we should change it to 2 new players every game or something, just constant cycling. Obviously this depends on how many players we have. -- SynKronos
  • Every 5 minutes. It was more like every 30 seconds. And it wasn't just you who was getting it. It was everyone. :) -- ElfBoy
  • I didn't say it was only me, I said that I was the only one who didn't mind it too much -- SynKronos
  • Is there any reason nobody came up with these (eg. two new players each game) ideas at the time? When I did offer up the control, I was told to carry on. Also, I think we should use the percentage levels to handicap better players. It does make it more fair, and that is what it's for. - GeekDotNeo
  • Hey, the schooling wasn't that bad! It was quite informative. Not to mention fun now and then when one of us did manage do stick it to da man. I know I enjoyed doing it once or twice :-) Anyway, here's hoping we have some more sessions like that one. Next time, I think I'll come around after the CotW? session as well. Nothing like sore thumbs to put a man to sleep...

Friday 19th September

aka ShadowsLight's place @ 21:30 til ferkin' late

Post

  • That was a lot of fun. Plenty of competition, and even the beginners were doing quite well. For all those first-timers firstfallen included), well done! I hope the next ones are as good. Thanks ShadowsLight for hosting!
  • hey! not a first-timer! i used to be l33t at tekken. like, 5 years ago, when i played all the time. :P - firstfallen
  • yeah, yeah. if that's REALLY the case, then get some practice in, instead of sitting and watching!
