Shadowslight and I (GeekDotNeo) were discussing roleplaying over IRC, there're lots of downsides. In an attempt to bring this to a functional level, heretoforthwith (the following) is a list of Things That Should Probably Make Gaming Over IRC Reasonable, or TTSPMGOIR. Really.
- Two channels, a separate one for off-topic conversations, maybe even three channels (IC and OOC)
- a decent dice bot, and botch counter (i'm sure gir wouldn't mind participating)
- maybe some kind of whiteboard tool? or a place to share files? dcc might be problematic.
the point was that games like neverwinter nights are nice, but not sufficient for a completely open-ended experience.
- suggestion: have a look/join/chat with the ]] crowd (see also their )]] - I'm part of a play-by-wiki game, but they do play-by-IRC too - d@vid June 10 2004
- i was trying to do it through CLAWs (not limited to, but i prefer to play with friends), and with The Usual Systems (ie VtM?). - GeekDotNeo dunnowotdayitis
- ic - I was suggesting more in terms of irc gaming "experience", lessons learnt, etc - I'll try and dredge up some logs for browsing/comparison/idea-stealing - d@vid Igetthatfeelingtoosometimes
- Is that a capital I spotted there, d@vid? - InfernalRabbi *~SomtimeInTheMiddleOfTheYear?*
- by cordial agreement between the e.e. cummings terro^H^H^H^H fanclub and the committee for mundane spelling (no relation to tori), abbreviations, CLAWwords, the word "I", and other words that look silly in lowercase are exempt from decapitalisation - viva multilateralism! - d@vid buggerthatforalark
