Hello all, sat around vising sites to get points and final got a Crew Quarters and created an offical group (CLAW Horde). Please post your nicks on this page if you join the game so I can add you to the group, I am currently in need of an Overlord, General and Warlord. The stronger you get the more change you have of moving up in the ranks. Once again, the toolbar does NOT contain spyware ... but like I said if you don't like it, don't install it.
The game does NOT contain adware / spyware. It sends you outwar.exe which is there toolbar (downloaded, scanned and installed ... spybotted afterwards). This game is REALLY cool, I acutally recommened everybody try .. I want to create a CLAW Horde so everybody join. When you go to the link it will ask if you want to d/l outwartoolbar.exe just say no ... its not neccasary. So please go to Outwar: Feed me (OsireS) (for those that don't like clicking without seeing the URL, its http://www.outwar.com/page.php?x=1990096) Now] please feed me, join my ranks and the CLAW horde shall ravage the land, buy lots of leet loot and kill all the gangsters and popstars. I object to anything, especially a toolbar, that installs without asking me. And it executes code before asking, otherwise Norton wouldn't have triggered. I'm betting this is some dodgy spyware in addition whatever game it might be. Hence the nomer 'Trojan'. -- SynKronos Acutally Norton freaks whenever an EXE is sent to you ... The toolbar CANNOT be installed automatically because your browser will never execute an EXE without asking you, it acutally asks you if you want to the EXE or not before anything happens. Its not neccasary to play the game, it does not "SPY" on you in sense of sending info back about surfing, usage etc back to their server, therefore it is NOT spyware. They are a large and reputable online game, yes the bar is irritating but you don't have to install it, Norton freaks about lots of stuff so just because Norton says so doesn't make it true. -- PolishProffesional
Dude, what are you ranting about? I download exes all the time, and Norton says nothing. However, when something tries to run something automatically, then it has a problem. You say browsers cannot execute exes without asking you... yeah right, you've obviously never been a victim of XXX Toolbar then. It installs without asking. It even goes into the Add/Remove Programs list in Windows. Maybe this does ask if you want to d/l an exe, all I am saying is that it executes something without asking. And just because it is a large and 'reputable' game company doesn't mean they don't spy on you. KaZaA? is large, and the CEO claims there is absolutely nothing dodgy in his code. I certainly don't believe him, maybe you do. The only thing Norton has ever 'freaked' about, for me at least, is a legit virus. -- SynKronos
Fair enough ... ok I admit it does run automatically. I guess my IE is patched enough that it doesn't auto run. Apologies you were right, I was wrong(ish) ;-) (And no I don't believe anything Kazza says or writes) ... Anyway its still a fun game, just ignore the toolbar. I like the Kazaa analogy btw in case you haven't heard Kazaa just got their offices raided. (http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/business/0,39023166,39116016,00.htm) ... I was reading the story just as I saw your post. So come on, join the fun ... become an Overlord in the CLAW Horde, you know deep down inside you want to, spyware or not. -- PolishProffesional Link removed by SynKronos, page removed by me. When I went in earlier there was no trojan ... evidently now there is. This is odd becasue this is a popular web game ... but I guess if SynKronos says there is a Trojan there is one (my anti-virus didn't pick up anything). The monster horde is no more.
