October 1st 2003, four students return to their rooms and apartments to find an invitation on their doors signed by some one called Elder Laryssa. Knowing of the upcoming Beltane party on Table Mountain and the rumours going around campus, the four keep the letters at hand to see what comes of them.
Later meeting up at Nescafe Café, Michael brings up the letter, Dolev brings out hers, and Eugene cracks a beer and mentions his with not much interest while Lexi denies ever seeing such a thing. While chatting and sipping a cloaked woman appears at the head of the table and introduces herself as Elder Laryssa. After enquiring on why they got the invitations Elder Laryssa explains that they are “gifted” and if they would like to learn more about these “gifts” they must meet her at the cove in camps bay that night at 8pm. After deliberating whether or not this was worth canceling her two dates that night, Lexi is the last of the four to agree to the rendezvous that night.
