Accomodation

Patrick has made booking for us at the Edenvale (I think) Formula1 hotel for the nights of Thursday 15th to Sunday 18th July

Price

Around R1100 pp for travel and accomodation. This obviously excludes food, registration and anything else you want to do while in Jozi

How does that break-down? I'm glad you asked!

Travel:

Each vehicle will travel a total distance of about 3000km, there and back. So that's 9000km in total. We assume an average fuel consumption rate of 8km/l this means we will need about 1125l of petrol. Then we assume a fuel cost of R4.60/l (R4.64) we get a total fuel cost of about R5175 (R5220). 12 people are going up, so that's a cost of about R430 (R435) per person.

Accomodation:

This one is simple, two people to a room room costs R209 per night, four nights that's R418 per person.

Total:

That gives us a total of about R850 per person. Add some cash for registering for the games and there you go. You may have noticed I've used a pretty pessimistic fuel price (although it's fucking spot-on now with all the price hikes - R4,64 is what it will be for Icon -- SynKronos) and consumption rate, but it's better to add some fat than to leave the budget too lean.
- Guys, just a friendly reminder, the petrol price in non-coastal cities is more than coastal. As far as I remember, the Jozi price is around R4,70 ATM. FYI - TheJuan

Eh, seems the price has dropped now anyway. A few cents doesn't change the costing estimates all that much anyway, since they are just estimates. -- SynKronos
