You are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. So, I bought some pine chests the other day. The DIY kind that come in boxes with all the holes drilled and screws and stuff included. Then, I put them together with a screwdriver. It was hard, yes, cos I had a really crappy screwdriver and I got blisters all over my hand. Too much screwing. But the chests look really cool, and will store all my fabric and be extra seating once I make big cushions for the top. Hah. I can so do boy stuff. I just don't, very often. Went to buy varnish and stuffs yesterday. Also some wire and pliers to make 15C headdresses to go with new garb. Horned headdress here I come :-p. Hoping to finish making the toile for my torso tonight. A toile is a fabric mock-up of your shape: you basically make a sack, then someone pins it in so that it fits you tightly. Then, when you are done, you have a pattern that fits to your body exactly, and can make a pattern for anything from it. I need more garb, but I can use it for anything, really.

Had Phleep's brother staying with us for a bit. He's just like Phleep, only bigger, hairier and louder. He brought me a really pretty lace bookmark from Brussels. It's one of the things the city is known for, besides chocolate, beer and frites. Mmmm, frites. Not that I'm allowed potatoes. In either food or comment variety. Sigh.

Due to the baby boom happening at the moment, I've decided to stop having sex till next year*, just in case it's something in the water. I have also decided to babysit alot to curb my broodiness. It's working so far. The infant cries for 2 hours solid and I think "omg, did I really want one of these?". But then it goes "goo" and I think "awwwww!". It's a total survival technique: be horrible and messy and loud and frustrating 99% of the time, and for the remaining 1% be totally irresistably adorable. Seems to work, otherwise we wouldn't have such a population problem.

Stuff I've been doing lately: reading the rest of the Dune series. Really enjoyed Heretics and enjoying Chapter House now. Read some graphic novels: Frank Miller's Ronin is ok, if a little predictable. But when it was written in the 80's the idea was new and amazing. Also read the Kurt Cobain graphic last night. It's basically a biography. Quite cool, well drawn, if a little tributey. Lots of SCA crafts: started some illumination stuff and finishing off my Manesse wall-hanging. As well as the aforementioned garb-making.

Went to visit Shelagh last night. Was cool, except for the butternut soup coloured walls. Hmmm. Apparently blue is a depressing colour. But the alternatives!

That's it. Back to work.

  • Not really. I just make sure to always take the little sweeties. Although with the 3 batches of giant penicillin bombs I've had to take this year already, I've had to be more careful. Bleh, I hate antibiotics.
