You are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. I saw Star Wars this morning, unfortunately with a crazed fanatic. Luckily he wasn't too rabid, though. It was exactly as I expected: Good special effects, but HORRIFIC(TM) acting. And of coarce the plot was only really a filler, i.e. people wanted more Star Wars stuff & it linked the story together. I also happened to see the trailer for the War of the Worlds. I WANT TO FLY TO HOLLYWOOD AND FIND THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE AND --CENSORED(Lets just say it won't be pretty)--. In fact, all the weapons of mass destruction in the middle east probably wouldn't be enough. They've BUTCHERED it! That novel was a masterpiece and they've taken it and, and... sigh they always ruin it. Always.

> They've BUTCHERED it!

you were only watching a trailer, you can expect it to be shorter than the original :-D

also, it can't be worse than the original movie adaptation

and does it have midichlorians? I didn't think so

It's crap. I'm so happy. Those fewls who posted "It's good" at IMDB were as wrong about it as they were about Troy.

Also, they wrote a novel? That's awful...

I've never seen the original movie but I can tell from the trailer that this one is not in the spirit of the book. They've moved it to a modern setting and turned it into some action piece of rubbish. And they plucked the protagonist out of some hat they found underneath a discarded sofa recently discovered on Suturn's 47th moon.

Comment: The Other Adaptation (by MyrdemInggala on 2005-05-20 17:23:05)

There is apparently a recent (lower budget) indie adaptation which actually attempts to adapt the novel, rather than be extremely loosely inspired by it.

It's made by Pendragon Pictures.

Looks cool. With any luck, it'll be available in the finer Rondebosch video stores (hey, we found Ginger Snaps). :)
