ArghAndCoolBeenz

You are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. The cool beenz is we now have ADSL,{cool} so I can check mail whenever I like, no waiting till after 7pm so it is cheaper. After a lot of chasing up (done by norm) the guys finally arrived on wednesday night, they phoned at about 9:30 to check if it was okay for them to come then...... enough harassing seems to have some effect, they were after all supposed to install it last Friday.

other cool, my shiatsu course progresses and I am really enjoying it, learning basic (the really simple stuff) Ancient Chinese philosophy like what is Wu Qi, Ying Yang and the Five elements.

Oh, I have more than one argh, the post office sucks by the way, i wouldn't recomend trusting them..... I sent something to someone in January (the 13th to be specific) it got to JHB on the 16th, all good being a parcell and all, but that is where the good ends. 4 weeks later, i phone bcause the person it is going to asked if I had sent it..... phone track and trace, not it hasn't moved in +-4 weeks. lodge the enquiry... much following up occurs, another 4 weeks, they say it is lost and will pay the insured value, good, 2 weeks, must get it to someone, so go and buy a replacement.... a few days later, the parcell re-appears, no reason for having been returned to sender, no trace on it to say it is back in plumstead (track and trace still think it is in JHB) and now, they wont pay me out even if I give them the item which I don't even want! and it is all their fault because they never even tried to deliver the item. And the best I can get from the people I bought the replacement from is a credit note to a jewelry store that only really sells clumpy silver jewelry which I don't wear.....

So if anyone is considering buying anything at a shop called Mercury Rising in Constantia Village, let me know and I will give you the voucher for less than its actual value so that I get something back.

Well second the Argh is what may be expected, students!!!!!!!! and that is not enough exclamation marks for what I have had tp put up with (mostly in marking) over the past week or 2.

two incidents stick out in my mind.

One student who I might add has written reasonable work for me, hands in an essay, gives about 5 references, some book, some internet, and gives me a full (I only require the abriviated one) plagiarism declaration (you can probably see where this is going){angry} so I am reading along, not totally happy with the style as it isn't really apropriate to an academic essay, with a little too much jargon thrown in (it was a "if you don't like the topic, check with your tutor and write on something else so he chose digital cameras -cool) then the clincher something about "having photos developed at the drugstore" alarm bells go off, {rolleyes}type a sentence from the essy into google, and whabam! whatta ya know, the essay is a website. the course convener told me to be nice, dude gets 0% but wont be sent to university court.

There are also somewhat more mild examples of plagiarism where it is obvious that the people don't understand the concept of plagiarism, so they fail, and get a long... explanation, but don't actually get nought{eek}

the other is just a student trying to look good, hoping the course convener for another course will override a few things that I told him. He arrived for a class in the first week of march, and I haven't seen him since... He goes to her, and to cut a long story short, tells her he doesn't have a tut group but the time of one of my classes would suit him, so could she please ask me if I will accept him since he only discovered he had to do the course this week...... (lectures started on the 7th Feb!)

well enough ranting from me, and I apologise to everyone who reads this and all my other rants about stupidity enacted by relatively inteligent people, but I feel the need to rant.
{confused}{eek}{rolleyes};-) I would do a full boarder of smiley faces but that would just be too much work
