ChristopherWalkenForPresident

I've posted (and deleted) this once already because, quite frankly, I can't tell if this is a hoax. Odds are it is, but it's still interesting to read.

So yeah have a look at his "campaign website".

If it turns out to be true...fuck me.

Not anymore it's not.

FairyTales

I've been mostly blasé about the glut of sci-fi/fantasy movies that have been hitting the big screen lately - and I include comic book movies in this. Lord of the rings was good - "Oh good." Punisher was bad - "Oh good."

I really didn't care. When I came down to it, they weren't my stories, my fables. Sure, I read comic. Sure, I had read the rings. But I either didn't take them seriously at the time (the comics), or I thought they were crap (LotR?). Whether I still think the same things today is neither here nor there: if the damn shrinks think someone's mother not giving them a cookie at age 5 can lead to problems in later life, then books I read while very young can also have a pronounced effect.

Anyway, to the meat of it. Finally there is a movie which I'm actually worried about - not excited, worried. The movie, by the by (and it really doesn't matter), is The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. Horrible fact is that if they do it well, I'll be happy...probably not extraordinarily happy, but good. If it's bad then it's a disaster.

The reason, as far as a relatively brief self-critical brood can tell, is that the whole Narnia saga is my fairy tale - a tale that lived in my head. Now it's going to be shared thing...other people get to experience my fairy tale, but probably not how I imagined it.

Eh.

PS. The counter example of this is the Guide. I assumed it was going to awful, so never really had a chance to build up anticipation.

You do know this is the second version of the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, yeah?

Third, I think. Unless the BBC didn't do it, and just started after that. There's an old animated movie too.

In any case...I'm allowed my panic.

Dude, I'm going to see that movie just to see whether the pump up the religious aspect as heavily as I'm expecting.

As y'all know, the whole Narnia series was a collection of christian allegories, which is why I was so amused that some undamentalist whackjob tried to ban CS Lewis as part of the fantasy-books-are-evil Harry Potter backlash. So what odds for the religious message being made a bunch more blatant in the current political climate? Or am I just being an annoying conspiracy theorist?

I loved the Narnia series - think I started reading them when I was in bed for a few days with some infection or the like while in Std. 3. I made my Mum fetch the whole series from the library after I'd read The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe. They're the first (and only) series of books that I've finished, only to pick up the first one and read them again.

However, I'm looking forward to the movie with the same thrill that a new Harry Potter movie gives me! Joy, joy!

(So movies in October then?)

Badgers

Hmmm...where to begin.

Over here seems nice. I've been sans car for the last couple of days. It's being assessed and now (hopefully) beaten by men with panels. Joy! All this came about because I had a lovely, though sudden, meeting with a drunk cyclist on William Nicol.

Gladly, he was alright, though upset that the bottle he had been drinking from was broken in the crash. Joy. Driving with a massive hole in your windscreen is an experience that needs you really need do to believe - though the cooling breeze is nice.

Not surprisingly, considering the title, I will now talk about badgers. There is an absolutely horrifying (not really) flash clip with a badger song here. It loops a few times before doing something suprisingly cool.

Or not.

Also - Yay for being absolutely junior. I'm not going to Loeries, which this year are in Margate. Bah.

Also again, World of Warcraft is fairly addictive.

have you seen the lord of the rings badgers? it's great.

also... you have shit luck with driving. it's never your fault but bad stuff happens :/

good luck in the future!

I can't say it's my fault. Insurance, don't you know.

Let's just say it wasn't his fault (even if he was drunk).

Comment: What! (by LothrielPixie? on 2005-07-29 11:52:44)

You haven't seen the badgers 'song'! OMG!

Tell me you've seen "We like the Moon?" And "Come to Kenya"? Damn, these are vital piece of net-geek culture you're missing! Although this does come from someone who's never watched an 'episode' of StrongBad?...

And Margate isn't that bad - or at least that what I'm lead to believe, could be all lies, damn lies.

Comment: Football badgers (by FirstFallen? on 2005-07-29 13:21:18)

dude! where have you been, under a rock? make sure you check out the Euro cup badgers, it's really cute, all the badgers in UK footie shirts with a goal counter. if you like that sort of thing, that is :P.

LegendOfTheGreenDragon

A new, browser based, version of the old classic. Here.

Anyway...I'm not certain, I have a feeling an enterprising CLAWSgeek? could host one of these.

And on that note (and having delegated all reponsibility for it) get to it.

Hehehehe, saw the blog post, went and grabbed PHP and the LOTGD Php sources and waboom, I now have green dragon running on my network at home. Okay, so with a 3 pc network the possibilies are limited, but it's still quite fun to play...

Would be fun to get it running on gluon or something...

BecauseItSAwesome

Had to post this: will probably cart it around icon.

No doubt everyone has already seen it (why does that always happen).

Ciao.
