The Cards

Tree Cards have a number of features. At some point in time I will link to actual mock-up images of how the cards should look. For now, I'll just describe them and hope that you can work out what I mean.

A Mock-up Image:
Wait for it. It's not here yet...

Face-up Side:
This is the back of the card. The main area of the card is taken up by a background image, probably of a Tree or possibly some Fractal or other. In each Corner of the card, as well as in the center of each Edge, there is a coloured Triangle with its point facing outwards. Each Triangle is coloured differently, so that one can work out exactly which way the card is facing and to ensure that it is flipped over correctly.

Face-down Side:
This is the main, or front, side of the card. Most cards spend their time face-down, however, so this is the side of the card that is usually not visible. As with the Face-up side of the card, this side features a background image a the same arrangement of Triangles, although the colours on this side are horizontally mirrored. Thus, if the top-left Triangle on the back of the card is green, the top-right Trangle on front is also green. The Triangles are only mirroed horizontally, not vertically. Additionally, next to each Triangle, opposite it's base, is a filled black circle. Within the circle there is a printed number. The number is printed in white and the possible numbers that can be found range from 1 to 6. There are two other components to the Face-down side of the card. The primary of these is a large, rectangluar text-box whose edges lie very close to the circles. This is the Effect box. It contains text regarding the Effect the card has when the Face-down side is visible. Finally, above the Effect box is a small line of text containing the Name, Numeric Id and Set Id of the card.

The Background:
This is just that, a background. It provides some eyecandy to peer at while you're bored.

The Triangles:
The Triangles are used to designate the different corners and edges of each card. The colouring system is the same on all cards. Starting in the top-left corner the colours are: Bright Red, Bright Green, Bright Blue, Bright Purple, Dark Red, Dark Green, Dark Blue, Dark Purple.

The Circles and Numbers:
The Circles containing the Numbers represent the so-called "Strength" of the card at that point. The Number within the Circle is used during the game to resolve Struggles. This will be explained in greater detail in one of the other sections of the rules. Suffice to say, these numbers are a representative of the "Power" of the card in that region. Higher numbers are better.

The Effect Box:
This box contains text that relates the effect the card has when the Face-down(Front) side is revealed. Exactly how these Effects are handled will also be described later.

The Name:
This is simple a Name that is used to identify the card. The Card Id and Set Id numbers are also used to identify the card.

How to turn cards over:
When turning cards over in Trees it is important to turn them over the correct way. The card should be flipped over horizontally, in the manner in which one can rotate the palm of the hand. Thus, when a flip is complete, the arrangement of the coloured Triangles should be the same and the text box should be facing the person who placed the card.

An Illustration of Card Flipping:
Also another WIP Image. I don't really know if it's necessary, but I'll put one up just in case...
