SocialWebsites

You are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. So there're a whole lot of social websites out there (you know, the ones where you collect friends like Pokemon). Some of them are useful, some of them are fun. If you have any that you heartily recommend, or are whoring for friends on, list them below.

If you want to maintain a list of your profiles, (perhaps as some sort of identity hub, koff), why not use your CLAWsite profile to do it?

Next: any ideas for mashups and sharing data in the CLAWsphere? (Discuss on the forum or cthfuchsia)

Facebook

http://www.facebook.com/
Group: CLAWs (must be logged in to view)
Admin: d@vid

A purely social social website, and well-designed.
Caveat: [*]

Flickr

http://www.flickr.com/
Group: CLAWs (must be logged in to view)
Admins: confluence, gnomeza

Online photo gallery and sharing site.

Last.fm

http://www.last.fm/
Group: CLAWs (generates group music charts)
Admin: gnomeza

Tracks what music you listen to and generates music charts. Requires that you download tracking software to plug into your music player.

del.icio.us

http://del.icio.us/

Keep your bookmarks on the web rather than in your browser. Tag bookmarks with keywords to find them easily.

What about having a CLAWs user to join the network of, and thereby be able to watch everyone's links (without adding everyone to your own network).

Flixster

http://www.flixster.com/

Rate movies, mark those you want to watch and find out who else wants to watch them. (Also has a movie compatibility quiz.)

I don't think it has groups?

LibraryThing

http://www.librarything.com/

Catalog your books online. Recognises ISBNs?. Suggests books you might like.

We could store the CLAWlibrary? online if LT had a little more functionality, and if we had a librarian.

LinkedIn

http://www.linkedin.com/

A purely professional social website.

Can you imagine a CLAWmember in a tie?

Ma.gnolia

http://ma.gnolia.com/

Keep your bookmarks on the web and join discussion/topic groups. (And the interface is prettier than del.icio.us :)

Hmmmm... worth having a specific discussion group? Possibly we have too many undertrod avenues for discussion already.

StumbleUpon

http://www.stumbleupon.com/

A toolbar that will randomly display sites that were selected as popular by the various other members.

Twitter

http://www.twitter.com/

Mini-blog by sms! Register and update your status by sms or the web. Receive friends' updates by instant messenger (Jabber or GTalk) or sms.

A CLAWs twit to follow for official announcements? And again, befriending so that everyone's notifications appear on its friends page.
