"Las Vegas. The City that Made Sin Stylish. You see it at night - the only time most tourists ever see it - and it shines brighter than the desert stars.

But just 'cause it glitters doesn't mean that it's gold, if you get what I'm sayin'.
All ain't sunshine and light in Vegas. The Mob may not run the entire damn town like they used to, but they're out there. But forget about them for a moment, though. There's other stuff worth noticing, too.

Strange people prowl the streets at night, and more than a few during the day too. People who can do...things. The old-time gangsters might have shot you, but there are people out there today who'll reach down your neck and pull out your heart without battin' an eyelid.

Don't believe me? I saw it happen to a guy, once.Not a metaphor.

Make no mistake, Vegas can be a dangerous place. And that's part of why people come there, after all. The thrill, the buzz...whatever you want to call it, it's all about risk. Riskin' your money or your life is just a matter of semantics. And no matter how much you might lose, once Vegas has got her hooks into you, you never really leave.

Because there's always the chance. The jackpot, financial or metaphysical, is out there, waitin' for you. Wanna go lookin' for it?"

Derek Templar, Private Investigator (Reported missing August, 1985. Never found.)

Derek Templar was a man who knew what was going on. Not everything that was going on, but enough to make a profitable living as a PI specialising in serving the Occult Undergound. He may be gone, but the agency he started, Templar Investigations is still going.

Not going well, mind you. But still going.
