IaYou are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. Ia is a new CLAWs? web/database server. It's a 120 MHz? Pentium MMX which runs at 239.20 bogomips and has 64MB of RAM. The operating system is Debian (testing) with Linux kernel version 2.4.18. Other important software running on Ia includes Apache (webserver), MySQL? (database), PHP4? (the language the wiki software is written in) and PEAR (a PHP library for accessing databases). The wiki software on Fhtagn has been set up so that it accesses the MySQL? database on Ia. This splits the wiki load across the two machines, hopefully resulting in a faster wiki for all. We decided to change from PostgreSQL? to MySQL? because the PhpWiki? software seems to get locking errors when multiple people access PostgreSQL? at the same time. Hopefully this won't happen with MySQL?. Ia's current physical location is room M406 in the Maths building. Ia's domain name is ia.claws.uct.ac.za. For those who a) live in a cave, b) are Bobs or c) are random strangers who have strayed onto this Wiki, Ia is called Ia because Ia! Ia! Cthulhu fhtagn. Obviously. |
