GettingAnotherClawroomYou are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. ArchiveFor current news about the CLAWshack, see CLAWroom... I think it's about time there was a Wiki page about this. Couches and glorious all-day time-wasting aside, we seriously need an on-campus site for our library. Something Must Be Done. Currently Mark is talking to people from Physical Planning regarding that cunningly concealed storeroom in the Leslie. If that fails, I think we should save up for a converted container to put up somewhere flat. Although this would cost thousands of rands, it would leave the society with a lasting solution - a relocatable room we actually own. If anyone knows construction type people, we may be able to save a fair bit of money by getting a bare container and putting in the fittings ourselves. But first let's see how the Leslie room pans out - the situation looks promising at the moment (translation: we haven't been told "piss off, you can't have it" yet). 8 November 2002There's a small, darkened room in the bottom of Leslie Social Science. Enter by the very bottom glass door on the North side. Stop. Turn left 90 degrees. Walk forward two paces. Stop. Turn left 90 degrees. Walk forward half a pace. That's the room. It doesn't have much ventilation (a single window with a metal grid over it), but it does have space. I talked to Physical Planning last Wednesday. The little room was originally a storeroom. It was used by the book store (Student Enterprises) as storage before they moved. Spoke to a lady by the name of Lil Sullivan. She's hasn't confirmed that the room is unused but I've asked her to find out for me who has keys to the room (if any exist). Told her I'll be contacting her again during the coming week. In the meantime, I'll be working on a proposal to put to the Dean of Students, Dr Kaunda. That will be the start of the formal application process. d@vid Apr 32 03:Any recent news? |
