FarscapeD20-to-Silhouette-PaFs

You are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. Current Version: 0.1.4 (18 May 2005)

Brief:
This page contains a list of new Perks and Flaws that have been added to the existing Silhouette list. These Perks and Flaws have been added, for the most part, in order to allow the Racial Adjustment Templates to better reflect the various unique features of each race. Many of these Perks and Flaws are compulsory choices for various races. Similarly, many are restricted on a racial basis. Others share this latter feature, but are optional choices for members of acertain race. Finally those there are those Perks and Flaws that are available to everyone. These have generally been added as flavour.

General Notes:
I'm not a fan of Perks and Flaws. In my current Heavy Gear game I restricted my players to one of each, maximum, during character creation. However, I realise that they also provide the easiest way to model many of the unique features of the various races in the Farscape setting. Thus, most Farscape Silhouette characters will start with more Perks and Flaws than I'd personally prefer, but this is unavoidable for the most part, so I'm going to stop worrying about it.

Character Perks:

Delvian Immune System (5 CPs?, Delvians Only): Delvians are naturally immune to a number of poisons and highly resistant to many more. Due to their floral nature they thus gain a +2 bonus on all Health tests against Drugs and Poisons that are not specifically designed to target floral life-forms. Additionally, they are immune to Drugs and Poisons with a potency of 6 or less, unless the drug is designed with floral life-forms in mind. This character may not take the Strong Immune System Merit or the Weak Immune System Flaw.

Focus (5 CPS, Pure Sebaceans Only): This Perk is, at present, a place-holder. Once the Meta-Physical Powers have been implemented it will actually do something.

Highly Acute Smell (4 CPs?, Luxans and Sheyangs Only): Luxans possess a highly acute sense of smell, even more so than their Ilanic allies. A Luxan receives a +2 bonus on all Notice checks that involve his or her sense of smell. Sheyangs also possess a highly developed sense of smell, although theirs is less effective in acidic environments. Sheynags benefit a +2 bonus on all Notice checks involving smell, but only in non-acidic environments.

Hynerian Immune System (3 CPs?, Hynerians Only): Hynerians benefit from a strong immune system as a result of their complex metabolism. They gain a +2 bonus on all Health checks against Drugs and Poisons. A Hynerian may not take the Strong Immune System Merit or the Weak Immune System Flaw.

Meta-Physically Gifted (3/5 CPs?): This Perk is, at present a place-holder. Once the Meta-Physical Powers have been implemented it will actually do something.

Character Flaws:

Black Blood (-3 CPs?, Ilanics and Luxans Only): Due to a peculiar feature of their circulatory systems Ilanics' and Luxans' blood can become black and poisonous. If an Ilanic/Luxan suffers a Wound and fails the associated Health check, in addition to falling unconscious, the individual’s blood begins to flow black. Henceforth the character must make another Health check every 5 rounds (30 seconds). If this check is failed the character suffers a Flesh Wound. If the Ilanic/Luxan’s injuries are stabilized then the individual’s blood begins to flow clear and they no longer need to make this check. This Flaw can not be bought of using XP…

Highly Empathic (-2 CPs?, Baniks Only): Baniks are highly empathic. While this does allow to them to understand the feelings and emotions of others to a greater extent, it also makes them more vulnerable to the pain of others. A Banik will almost always attempt to aid another being that is in emotional stress, easing its suffering. In order to ignore such a situation a Banik must make a Willpower check at with a Difficulty Threshold of 6. This Flaw can be bought off using XP, but the character must spend 6 XP or 3 SPs? in order to do so and the buying off of the Flaw must be well justified (I.e. The character has suffered a traumatic experience that forever alters his or her way of perceiving the world.) This can be done during character creation, if the character’s background merits it and the GM assents

Vulnerable to Heat (-5 CPs?, Sebaceans only): Due to the lack of a heat-regulating organ “Pure” Sebaceans are unable to cope with room temperatures higher than 35 degrees Celsius. Under such conditions the Sebacean suffers a cumulative -1 penalty to all actions per hour spent in these dangerous conditions. Additionally, the character must make a Health check and the end of each hour in order to stay conscious. Failure indicates that the character has fallen unconscious and will remain so for 1d6 hours. During this time they still suffer the cumulative effects of the heat. A Fumbled health check indicates that the character has fallen into a coma and will die in 1 hour unless the local temperature drops. This Flaw can not be bought of using XP…

System Perks:

Luxan Tongue Sting (1 pt): A Luxan’s tongue is capable of delivering a powerful neurotoxin with
the sting located at its end. In order to do so the attacker must cause at least a Flesh Wound with his/her attack. If the attack succeeds then it does no actual damage (Thus, it can not Instant Kill
the target). Instead, it delivers a neurotoxin with the following properties into the victim’s blood-stream:

Name: Luxan Neurotoxin
Potency: 12 Effects: Sedative
Onset: 1-5 seconds (Depending on where it enters the blood-stream...)

See section 6.2.2 in the SilCORE? Rulebook for details on Drugs and Toxins
