Features of the Diablo II: Sinister Mod

  • Completely revised character classes, with revised skill trees, skills and basic attributes and features. Whirlwind will be present, in some form or other, and using it in Hell difficulty will not mean instant death :-)
  • Skill cap of 30 points. Items, etc may temporarily raise skills over this level, however.
  • New skill tree system: Skill pages are no longer organised according to skill types, but rather according to skill power. Low-level skills have a level requirement of 1-20, Medium-level skills require levels 24-44 and High-level skills range from level 48 to level 68. Low-level and Medium-level skills upgrade favourably in order to remain usable at higher levels. High-level skills can become obscene in numerous ways, including mana cost.
  • Highly revised monsters. Monsters will be spread more evenly throughout the game, with some beasties appearing in places you're not used to. Monster resistances, etc will get a big overhaul. Overall monster difficulty will be amped up to some extent, although Hell difficulty may be made just a bit more sane than the current v1.10 beta difficulty, which seems to have a lot of people slightly peeved. Nevertheless, things won't be easy. Probably the biggest change will be a proliferation of skills among monsters. You can expect to see more monsters using more skills throughout the game, including skills you haven't seen them use before. Hopefully this will up the challenge factor a little bit, and make combat somewhat more interesting and flashy...
