What is it about this rain-drenched ancient metropolis 10000 km north of our sunny seaside home that draws
CLAWmembers like black-clad moths to a black-clad-moth-attractor? Is it the rain? The brooding Victorian bathrooms^H^H^Harchitecture? The history under-foot (plague pits vs underground, can you see the difference)?
Is it the fact that everyone wears black all 9 months of winter? The pay?
And draw them it does. The lure becomes especially irresistible if they have been committee members, or worst of all, CLAWthing.
It is the contention of this thesis that London holds more ex-CLAWthings? than Cape Town.
