CLAWnet

You are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. CLAWnet is the CLAWs mailing list for the discussion of online resources. See CLAWsMailingLists? for subscription details and information about all mailing lists. Aside from that...

CLAWnet was the name for a proposed online system for managing all sorts of CLAWs stuff.
It started as an idea to create a database for the CLAWs Library and gradually morphed in to an idea for a system for automating and managing all sorts of CLAWs activities.

Stuff Mark wrote about it many moons ago:

Recently I sat down and started designing (and partially implementing) the parts of the system for managing things like the library, events, the List of Souls.

The system will already have:

  • Online library browsing
  • Reservation and renewal of CLAWs library books online
  • Library administration (adding newly purchased books, checking for overdue books etc.)
  • Online game signups for events like Dragonfire

Other possibilities include:

  • Secure download of LARP character sheets
  • Secure payment of game registration fees

What I want to know from all of you, is what features you'd like to see in the online system.

Also, how you would like to see it implemented (remembering that it'll have to run on fhtagn, of course).
I'm already becoming a little nervous of using MySQL? (for various MySQL?-specific reasons), but we really don't want to have to run two database systems on fhtagn just so we can keep the Wiki and CLAWnet running at the same time. Perhaps that's as good a reason as any though to have a separate server for CLAWnet? On the topic of the Wiki, it would be nice to see some integration between the Wiki and CLAWnet. Not sure what that would be though.

Comments, suggestions here.

The ClawWiki is currently using PostgreSQL? and not MySQL?. It was using MySQL? when it was hosted on light. - ElfBoy

The new wiki is using flat files and no database; the forum is, however, using mysql (and the wiki uses the forum's login credentials). confluence 20 February 2009, at 01:46 PM SAST
