TheClaw

You are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. at the moment i am wearing something called a 'truetip' on my thumb. It's a little clawlike thingy that you use to turn your finger into a stylus for touch screens. obviously they assume that you must have hands like an orang utan to need one...hence it being on my thumb. it just falls right off my index finger.

i got some strange looks from the boss for wearing it :) i like it, it is pointy.

had a good weekend, although it could have been longer. bought Stigmata, Devil's Advocate and 28 Days Later on DVD, and 2 new pairs of jeans. Didn't get enough sleep.

I was reminded of a minor rant by GeekDotNeo?'s post re The Punisher. Alex and I watched this movie a couple of weeks ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very true to the comic in both look and characterisation. The movie had some great one-liners, some awesome, gruesome revenge action, and as a comic fan i was quite satisfied. Now this brings me to the fact that it was thoroughly lambasted at TNM, and the realisation that TNM is completely the wrong atmosphere in which to watch this kind of movie. There are certain regulars who are not comic readers, and so would probably not appreaciate the movie, or the cliches which were highly reminiscent of comics but may otherwise have seemed corny. I was not there, but i can only assume that their lack of appreciation of the genre lead to much MST3King?. Hence making a mockery out of a movie that may otherwise have been enjoyed if not watched in their presence.

This is one of the reasons why i don't like going to TNM unless i know what movie is being shown. There are certain genres which simply cannot be watched in a room filled with people who do not appreciate them. Comic based movies are one of them. The pitiful protests of those who are actually enjoying it are generally drowned out.

This only goes to enforce my belief that you should never ever listen to other people's opinions on things which are purely subjective, such as the enjoyment of a movie. Had i taken the TNM verdict as gospel, i would have lost out on a very enjoyable movie.
