TheseAreTheDays

You are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. I am rather pleased with myself at this moment. I've actually managed to make a significant difference to the life of a friend.

I've managed to find Richard a job. Well, that is to say, I applied for lots of jobs for him, and he got one of them. At least I now know that my ability to format CV's and write cover letters is not lacking. It's apparently just me who's lacking - hence my derth of 'real' jobs.

Anyway, so the lad with the worst financial acumen of any human being I know, will at least now have an income to speak of. Not that it covers his debts. Sigh. And I know I really should find a way to steal £100 or so from him, keep it back and then hand it to him in three weeks time when he's too broke to buy food due to too much impulse spending. The reason I need to 'steal' it from him is so that he doesn't know that he's got 'savings', since if he does it's guaranteed that he'll spend everything, and sooner too. But yes, soon he'll be back on his feet, and the nicest thing is his company is giving him an advance on his first month's pay so that he can have money to find a place to stay and pay a deposit.

Blink on Monday was good. I'll admit they didn't give the best live performance, and they had a rather annoying habit of speeding up all the older favourites in a kind "right guys, let's see how fast we can get though it this time!" fashion. However the show calmed down and got a lot more enjoyable about a third of the way through then Robert Smith came on stage! Whoot! Robert Smeeeth! :-D (Can you tell I'm a fan?) They even played an utterly mangled version of "Boys don't cry" with Robert singing at the end. I thought it was fantastic, Alex thought it was crap, and Kait was just amused. We then tromped our way home through hordes and hordes of under-aged fans and collapsed into our respective beds somewhat later than ideal.

Today my office is interveiwing a stready trickly of applicants for the position of 'architectural assistant', although it appears that the lad scheduled to arrive at 10am has bailed.

I'm in the process of planning a mini-christmas dinner for my ex-housemates and the Durbs RP crowd on Sunday the 19th. Actually christmas looks like it will be spend at Paul's house's "waifs 'n strays" party (lasting all weekend since London transport grinds to a halt over that period, bar a few busses). I'm also hoping to persuade that lot that we need to get out of London over New Years, maybe I'll even take a day or two of leave as well. Would be nice, I'll just have to wait and see.
