You are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. Having over-done it more than a little on Friday night, I faced Saturday with a certain amount of groaning trepidation.

After helping Richard dye his hair black we proceeded to head for the Rammstein concert. Throngs of goth-metal-punks wrapped a queue right around the Brixton Academy and then further round a few other stree corners. We were spared the need to start waiting from back by Claire's friend, also a Richard.

Inside the support act had already started, a band by the name of Apocalyptia which consisted of a drummer and four cello'ists playing metal. It was extremely cool. They even played some Mettalica covers and one of the cello's played the vocal part. Amazing. Oh, and a metal version of the classical piece 'Hall of the Mountain King' was also brilliant.

Rammstein themselves were everything promised and more, my only complaint being that I just didn't have a good enough view of it all. Being 5f 5' in an audience of the kind Rammstein draws is a distinct problem, even when the flood of the academy does a gentle arena-like slope. They played two encores (each with yet more pyro-technic displays) and the audience was very reluctant to leave even when the stage crew started packing up. Worth every pound of the ticket price, if not more!

The Anime All-nighter was a bit of a mixed bag. The audience was pretty cool, and it would have been nice to have got there earlier and mingled, but our small crowd provided enough comraderie to see us through the late night. The first movie, Sky Blue, a Korean effort, was excellent. The next, Parasite Dolls, by the makers of Bubble Gum Crisis and A.D. Police, continued the A. D. Police trend towards deeply disturbed Man & Machine tales. Not my favourite serving of caffeinated beverage (although the Red Bulls did make it a little more palatable). "Lady Death", based off the comic, and the American offereing was, well, awful. Everyone, now on sleep-deprivation and a sugar rush, proceeded to loose their patience and MST3K? the life out of it (or should that be 'back into it?') Fortunately the final movie, RahXephon?, while a little disjointed was also good, although a little Neon Genesis in most respects. I went home with a few goodies including the two DVD's of the RahXephon? series and a spare can of Red Bull. Nifty.

I spent Sunday mostly asleep and being just plain lazy. Still a little wiped today, but should be right as rain tomorrow. Oh, and the big news is: I've decided to stay in London. Well, that is, to come back after my visit home. I'm just not quite ready to give up here yet.

I'm glad you've decided to stay. See what summer brings.

Comment: Apocolyptica (by AndieMoore? on 2005-02-07 21:11:34)

Feh. That actually makes me jealous. Apocolyptica are usually pulled out by music nerds when they find out that people like either: Metallica far too much, or VAST.

Damn you little saul!
