You are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. Hello, my name is Robyn and I'm a jitsu addict.

I found one of the London sites yesterday that got me giggling. The splash page reads "Everybody wants to do jujitsu. They just don't know it yet." My sentiments exactly!

My cold ran pretty much to schedule. I even picked up a bit of flu on Thursday just to add insult to injury - although despite this I dragged myself into the office for a half-day. Friday the light at the end of the tunnel was apparent, so I decided to take the day off anyway. The weather was nice, Mike was flying to Russia and I'd done most of the work I could the day before. Also, I though it might be a good plan to rest up before jujitsu that night.

Yes, I went to jitsu sick (and loaded up with sinus tables and pain-killers.) In hindsight though I have learned to never go to a jitsu class on pain-killers since the pain the next day from over-streaching is not fun. Otherwise, it went fine. Even hung around a bit at the pub afterwards - although still got my usual early-ish night. Actually, I really like having an excuse not to go out on a Friday night, I'm usually to tired and tense from the week anyway to have much endurance or patience. Jitsu allows me to let go of all that for two hours and come out feeling happy, warm, bouncy and like I really do deserve that early night after a long hot bath that I so crave (well, after I've spent and hour or so at the pub with my class-mates - but that's all part of the wind down time).

Monday's class was tragically cancelled due to the bank holiday. I was most upset. This coming Friday I'm going to have to miss since after a very deep and difficult consideration period I have decided that I really should go to Reg's birthday celebrations in Wimbledon and there's no way I can fit jistu in beforehand and still make it there in time. By Tuesday I was already suffering withdrawal symptoms, feeling morose, lethargic and tired. (Although this may also have something to do with sitting up playing Civ III for two nighs in a row for later than I should have.) However, I scoured the web for another affliated club in the London area that had a Wednesday night session, didn't charge an arm and a leg and actually ended at a reasonable enough hour for me to get home afterward. I found one.

So last night I cheerfully trundled off there - and now I'm happy again. I'm especially happy since they seem like an equally nice lot, and I've had a look at my calender and have realise I'm going to need a mid-week session to replace some Fridays since well, June is chockas with Venice and my parents coming (yay!) and there are also a couple of Mondays that are going to be problematic too - and I need jitsu!

He he he, I've also manged to do something utterly horrid to my right baby toe. It's lurid shades of maroon and violet after it decided to go a different direction to the rest of my foot during one ground-work throw. Dislocated? Torn muscles? Just plain old sprained? Oh well, it hasn't swollen up too badly and I can still limp on it in my docs. Besides, toes, there's nothing you can do for them. All part of the fun!

(No, really I do mean that, you should see the stupid grin I'm wearing now. I am a maniac.)
