You are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. For those of you who care (such as ... Sean) I got 72% for the essay with the pretty map! Yay! As my presentation (like everyone else) got 70 and my participation (like everyone else, though no one knows WHY) got 73 and the essay itself counts double, I got 72% overall. This means that I now have a mark of 14.4%. Yay! Only another 80% of the course to go. Well, that's not entirely true. We've done most of the core module already.

I am extremely unhappy with Germans. The German embassy never answers their phones. The reason for this is that their phones are always engaged. I hate Germans. On the plus side, the picture that's going to go into my new passport is very cool. I'm very happy with it. It's the most flattering picture I've had so far. This includes two for my about-to-expire passport (age 13 and much older ... hmm ... if it was the end-to-middle of 2000 then I was probably about 17....), my Id (about 15 or 16), my driver's licence (age something or other ... 21? Who cares, either way I look like a junkie in the picture) and my student card (age 19, until now the best picture).

In other news ... my foot hurts. This is because I am sitting on it. However, I have to continue to sit on it 'cause I'm sitting on the only comfortable chair we have at our computers and it happens to be extremely low (and requiring good balance).

A large number of you will be shocked to hear that I have willingly and by choice decided not to play in a LARP. Or, more accurately, 3 LARPs. Those being the future FlowerWars?. Why? Because, among other things, I don't have the time that is required. I will be using that time either for sleeping or for working. Occasionally for eating ... actually, probably not, but I'm really quite hungry right now and I can't be bothered to get up and wander down (well, about 2 meters across) to my cubicle where I have grapes.

Yesterday, in osteology, we were doing sex and the guy (for those of you who know, it's Alan Morris, Leigh Morris's father - who I was best friends with in pre-school (Leigh, not her father!)) brought out one of those thingies to test grip strength. There was no variation among the four girls (I got 24.3) and the guys had huge variation, from 28 (Struan) to over 50...

I don't really know why I'm telling you this, but you can just sit there and pretend that you care. Although, if you're reading this, you must be really, really bored because I'm only sitting here writing it because ... well, because the alternative is sitting and working and my head hurts, as do my eyes, so this is easier. Sounds kind of strange doesn't it? But this is easier - partly 'cause I'm not wearing my glasses 'cause I'm sitting in the low, comfortable chair a bit back from the table, with the keyboard in my lap (which is making my arm a little sore as well, but I can cope!) as opposed to sitting at my desk trying to sort through information and actually having to think!

I suppose, seeing as how it's about half past eight now, I could wander down to CafeNescafeCafeCafe? and see the people there. But I'm quite happy up here. Of course, I'm also waiting to see if anyone emails me. Not just anyone, I'm not quite that bored, I just can't imagine that you are remotely interested in who I'm expecting an email from. Technically, I'm waiting for an email from: Sean, d@vid, Linzy, Vicky, Anelia and Duncan, but, Sean is probably still asleep, or at the very least, at home, d@vid is, no doubt, working or doing whatever it is that d@vid does, Linzy is pretending that evil computers, with incompetent email in her brother's smelly room, don't exist. I think Vicky might have gone away - either way, she has a child and is in New Zealand and I've already replied to her last email twice 'cause I got confused and thought I hadn't. Anelia is away, I know that for a fact. Duncan is probably working. And doing kung fu and other Duncanly things. Although, he only starts work at 9. In London (or somewhere close enough that I'm going to call it London!) and I forget what the time difference is at the moment. Is it two hours or one? Does it matter?

Sean and I saw Dave Sharpe the other day. He was swaggering up the stairs. Did you know that he swaggers? I'm not sure that he does it all the time, but when we saw him he was clearly swaggering.

Nick just arrived. Almost none of you know who he is, and for those of you who do, it's English Nick, not dodgy Nick. Who was actually very nice to me yesterday. He's got some funny ideas about women and men and their relationships, but it makes for interesting conversation.

I should probably go because we've got the seminar at 9 (Which Sibo is giving, so the chances of us starting on time are negligible ... although, she's supposed to be in GIS with Shawn right now, so if she made that (unlikely thought 'cause she hasn't come in before 9 yet this week and we've been starting at 8:30) then she should be on time for us). I should go do readings or something. But they're boring and I've done the ones for today already. And, like I said, my eyes are hurting.

For those of you who like fish, and more particularly, tropical fish, you should come visit me. We have lots of fish in an enormous tank, as well as ten (unless some have died without me noticing ... entirely possible) baby orange mollies in a smaller tank.

Hmm ... Will's phone is ringing, but he's not here. He was in here, working on his presentation for tomorrow morning (also starting at 9 'cause Shawn, dodgy Nick and I have SAN114F? tutorials at 8), apparently he was on page 4 in Word and he's going to pull that over into PowerPoint? and have lots to say. Which is fine, I just hope that it doesn't take more than an hour (unlikely 'cause dodgy Nick had an enormous amount of slides and he didn't manage to talk for as long as I did!) because Sean wants to leave early and go see a movie tomorrow. Before he kidnaps d@vid for tai chi. We haven't decided what we're going to see yet 'cause neither of us actually know what's available (I think he said he'd check, but I don't know when. I know I haven't had time) and I'm fussy about movies. This is because I'm not very fond of movies. Surprisingly enough for the same reason I'm not particularly fond of clubs. Too loud. Too many strange people in close proximity to me. Of course, the advantage that movies have over clubs is that the people are (usually) not drunk and there's no smoke! Although, when Sean and I went to see Stepford Wives (which was quite funny 'cause he didn't know anything about it!) there were about 2 other people in the theatre. I enjoyed that!

Still, they shun me. Even my sister, who I know is at work. Or at least, should be at work, unless she's got her other interview with Standard Bank today... hmm... I do not know! I know she had an interview yesterday with some other people who were terribly interested in her and she was worried 'cause she didn't know when the 2nd SB (those are Sean's initials too ... how strange! My boyfriend is a bank ... hmm....) one was and she wanted to have the one with the other people before the SB one.

Speaking of interviews, I must phone Mary-Anne. This is because she had a place for articles next year and they wanted her to start working 2 days a week this year 'cause they're desperately in need of more staff, and all that she had to do was sign ... and I don't know what's happening there, so I must phone her and find out. Or, I could email her! And then she'd have to email me back! Yay!

Now I really have to go 'cause the seminar is in 5 minutes!

Comment: Too much... (by OOPMan on 2005-04-06 10:10:39)

You write too much.
And you're dropping out of LARPs In the immortal works of the ToothpasteDealer?
Suck... ...it down!

Comment: just confirming... (by BlueHands on 2005-04-06 11:36:05)

it's just the Flower Wars larps you're dropping out of?
not Illusion of Free Will?

Comment: Re: just confirming... (by GraveRobber? on 2005-04-06 12:31:42)

I will still be in Illusion! I've invested too much in it already and I will make the time! As long as you don't have one the week of the 9th of May and possibly the weekends both before and after that. Which means that if you're tentatively placing it on the 7th of May (Saturday), I might not be there 'cause we'll probably leave that morning on our Southern Cape Sites Field Trip! That's not cool though. I'll have to check whether it does include weekends and let you know about that!

If you feel I write too much, you'll just have to start reading in smaller bits!
And I'm not dropping out of ALL LARPs, just the FlowerWar? ones. And if you don't like it, go bug Sean 'cause I didn't think of it until he suggested it!

Comment: Bah... (by OOPMan on 2005-04-07 08:59:45)

A LARP requires about 5 hours of your time one day, maybe once a month or two. Anyone who's too busy to allocate that amount of time is too busy to eat, sleep and take a piss...
