PageListTemplatesYou are on the archive wiki. The new wiki is here. PhotoUpdateJust posted my backlog of photos from September 2004 to 12 March 2005. http://gluon.za.net/mark/photos 127 new photos. TheUnexpectedDayThe big news of course is that Kait is in Cape Town until 4 December. It's quite reassuring that when things need to happen in a day they can... Friday started as a normal day at work: a groggy train ride out to Farnborough, getting a taxi to Nokia since the shuttle bus decided not to wait for us (bastards). Routine mug of tea and choc-chip cookie at the office... Got a call from Kait to say someone had been trying to call her from CT, something to do with her mother. Another call from Kait, which I missed. When I called back, Kait, distraught, informed me that her mother had died, perhaps two days before. Back on the train up to London; to Old Street and Kait's work. Phone calls, plans, tears. Organised a return flight, packed bags, calls to the Sauls (with whom Kait will be staying), and off to Heathrow by train, foot, bus and tube. And Kait was flying home to CT by 19h30... Now strangely quiet. PhotosAndTheWeekendHave at last uploaded the backlog of photos from March onwards. Photos!http://gluon.za.net/mark/http://gluon.za.net/mark/photos/index.shtml|photos] There are a bunch of videos I still have to upload, but I'll let you know when they're ready... In other news, Oliver and Dominique are staying with me until Thursday. First time I've seen them since they arrived in April (they had moved up to Leeds by the time I got back from Sweden). Have started vague attempts at job hunting, so should be leaving Nokia before the end of the year. A good weekend - Saturday morning went to Putney and sat in Coffee Republic with my laptop while Kait went to look at a house near Putney Heath. Bought a second duvet cover set at Argos to match the one I bought last year. Then back to Richmond to tidy up my room before meeting Oliver and Dominique at King's Cross station. Hopped out at Leceister Sq on the way back and went for an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner - walked around a bit then headed back to Richmond. Sunday we attempted to take a trip on the Thames, but this was foiled by maintenance at Westminster Pier, so showed Ol & Dom a bit of Putney instead. Went up to Camden market, which was fairly busy, didn't buy anything (been spending too much lately). The hot fresh cinnamon doughnuts were really good though. After doing a walk around a few major central London sites (London Eye, Westminster, St James's Park, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square) we headed home and made Chinese Stir-fry. Stayed up chatting with Ol until 2am - was great to catch up. Comment: mauk pr0n!! (by FirstFallen? on 2004-10-29 15:18:01)w00t! mauk pr0n!!!!!! :-p SeaSideThe British idea of a day at the sea-side is warped. I go to the sea to swim, to surf or veg. If the weather isn't agreeable, then it's listening to the waves and the gulls, watching the ocean and perhaps scouring the sand for shells. All the peaceful stuff. I leave with the same feeling as I get after reading Jonathan Livingstone Seagull. (reminder to read it again) By contrast, the Brighton pier is spoilt by commercialism, the sea is spoilt by Jet-skiiers (would take a rifle to the lot of them), and the calm is spoilt by my whining.
