GnomeBlog: TheUnexpectedDay

The big news of course is that Kait is in Cape Town until 4 December.
Yes. Like she's there right now.

It's quite reassuring that when things need to happen in a day they can...

Friday started as a normal day at work: a groggy train ride out to Farnborough, getting a taxi to Nokia since the shuttle bus decided not to wait for us (bastards). Routine mug of tea and choc-chip cookie at the office...

Got a call from Kait to say someone had been trying to call her from CT, something to do with her mother.

Another call from Kait, which I missed. When I called back, Kait, distraught, informed me that her mother had died, perhaps two days before.

Back on the train up to London; to Old Street and Kait's work.
Took Kait home to Putney. It's now almost 1pm.

Phone calls, plans, tears.

Organised a return flight, packed bags, calls to the Sauls (with whom Kait will be staying), and off to Heathrow by train, foot, bus and tube.

And Kait was flying home to CT by 19h30...

Now strangely quiet.
